Why do we do it?

CCRT Disaster Services is a non-profit organization.  No one within the organization takes any form of a salary.  All of the equipment we use to carry out the mission must be received through direct donations or purchased with donated funds.  Our monthly budget is very low, we have a small rent payment, an insurance payment, and a couple small fees for things like our wireless router, GPS trackers, etc.  The vast majority of the money we raise goes directly to things like boats, search & rescue (SAR) gear, chainsaws, gasoline, etc.

Working at these events gives us much needed funds.  We receive a payment of $130-$200 per person per event (depends on the event) for each event day worked.  This is a significant fundraiser and important for the disaster and SAR work we do.

What to expect:

These events are a LOT of fun.  You are going to be working outdoors, driving a golf cart from one part of the property to the other part delivering items to concession stands.

When you first report for work you will be assigned an area to work.  Typically it will be a section of the track where concession stands are open.  You will be teamed up with another member on a golf cart.  You will routinely check in with the concession stand to see what items they need replenished (ice, beer, food, cups, etc).  You will then go to the warehouse, get those items, put them on the golf cart, and deliver them to the stands.  That is really all there is to it.

The stress level is low, the work isn't hard, you get to hang out and talk with other CCRT members, and you get to know your help is going to go directly to helping people during some of the worse times of their lives.

Depending on the event you will also get to see some cool things like a NASCAR race, a NHRA drag race, a car show, etc.

Location:

Lucas Oil Raceway:  West side of Indianapolis - location of drag races, etc.  We will be doing some events there.  This is an OUTDOOR location where we work beer carts and outdoor grills.

Parking and Entry at all locations is provided for free.  Please see directions below for parking lot and entry details.

Dress Code:

Black pants.  Dress pants, Dockers, Cargo Pants, Tactical Pants are OK.  Black denim is NOT.  Black leggings is NOT.  You can wear black shorts as long as they are tasteful (no spandex or upper thigh shorts).  If you show up wearing any pants not approved the racetrack will turn you away.

Neon yellow CCRT Disaster Services shirt.  One shirt will be provided for you.  Please do NOT cut the sleeves off, tear the shirt, etc.

Closed toe-shoes, black hiking/walking preferred.  If you do not have those then tennis shoes will be fine.  Wear shoes that are comfortable!

No wild hair colors, wild nail polish, or facial piercings

Parking:

Enter at gate 6.  This is located on the West side of the Raceway on County Road 1000 East.  The gate will be closed but when the security guard comes up tell them you are there for CenterPlate/Sodexo Concessions.  Do NOT follow the signs to the main gate or you will be on the complete opposite side of the track and will be late getting to the proper location.

Entry:

Lucas Oil Raceway:  Once you drive into gate 6 to your left you will see a white concrete block building that says "Centerplate".  Find a parking spot and go into that building.   Find the CCRT sign-in sheet.  Sign-in and find one of our team members that will help you get an assignment.
